Service Hours

Hello EVERYONE!
If you did service hours with key club, please notify me. I know this is last minute but for example, if you did service such as helping out at DInner in the Park, you need to tell me so then i can put it on your service record. There was so many people at Dinner in the Park so it was impossible for me to find every RC key clubber.
Also, when you go to an event like, DCM or any Key Club event, look for a sign in sheet at the event or else just find, text, email or call me to let me know you were there. By the way, at DCM there is a division sign in sheet which is for everyone. and a Ramona Convent Key Club sign-in sheet, which is RC key clubbers.
ALSO it would be nice if you notify me what you did during that month before that month was over. for ex: dinner in the park was in Nov so you should tell me before the month of November is over.

HEEEEY HEEEY HEEYYY(:

So...
FALL RALLY
is this saturday! Yayy! ;D
Well just a reminder that you now need to turn in a medical release form by no later than the day of Fall Rally itself,
otherwise there will be a major consequence.
Which is, you won't be allowed to attend fall rally even if you show up the day of.
And no, refunds won't be given.
We are expecting for each and every one of you to step up and be the responsible leaders we know you all are.
SO MAKE SURE YOU TURN THE MEDICAL RELEASE FORM NO LATER THAN 11/14!
I can't even stress it enoughhh!
So here's the link where you can print out the form and get it signed and turned in to Sarah Abando or any of the other key club board members if you don't see Sarah around.

http://www.cnhkeyclub.org/downloads/Resources/Policy%20and%20Forms/Medical%20Form.pdf

And if you can't find the medical form through the link above,
You can always go to cnhkeyclub.org
Click on Resources.
Then Policy and Forms
And then finally, Medical Form

So make sure to get that form in! It's extremely important. And I would hate if any of you would have to lose your chance to go to Fall Rally Six Flags after paying for everything.

- Key Club Treasurer!

Activities for October 23, 2009

Hi Key Clubbers & Book Buddies!

Okay, since I won’t be able to stay long with you guys in doing these Halloween activities, I thought I’d give you a planner of what’s going to be happening. You guys have approximately an hour or so I believe, to get these kids Halloween spirits up and going!

Please arrive at the Library on Friday, October 23, 2009 by 1:20 after school that way we can get going and go over to Marguerita as soon as possible. We will be over there from 1:30pm-2:30pm.

Here’s my plan or so I’m hoping it’ll work out:

1. Set up different stations for each activity.

2. According to each activity, follow the instructions! J It seems pretty easy enough.

3. Please remember to be productive and run the activity as according to planned. We don’t have much time, probably 15 minutes at most with each activity. Depending when they let out for school.

Donations will be appreciated, please help us out!

We need the following:

- Miniature Pumpkin

- CANDY! J (We’ll be needing several bags, so various people could bring some)

- Cardboard wall with holes + bowl (I’ll take care of the “icky gooey” stuff, so don’t worry about that)

- To those who are coming to help us out, it’d be great if each of you guys could bring a pumpkin bucket and we will stuff them quickly in the library at BREAK, OCTOBER 23RD! So be prompted.

- Fruit Punch or Hawaiian Punch (“Vampire’s blood :P”) and Cookies!

STATION 1:

How Many Guessing Game: Fill up a jar with a lot of Halloween candy and have each student guess how many pieces are in the jar. Record each guess next to their name. Winner in the end gets the jar of candy. J

Once you’ve recorded all guesses …

Pass the Pumpkin! Basically it’s the same concept as “Hot Potato” and “Musical Chairs”. You keep passing the mini pumpkin around until the music stops and the one with the pumpkin is out.

Winner receives a prize!

STATION 2:

Halloween Feel Box: Basically we’re going to have a bowl with “icky gooey” stuff in regards of the Halloween theme.

Examples:

Damp course sponge: brains

Peeled grapes: Eyeballs

Tines of a plastic fork: Vampire fangs

Spaghetti noodles: Slimy worms

You’re going to have all these things in a bowl but there will be a cardboard box with a hole in between the student and the bowl that way they may reach into the hole and put their hand in and feel what’s in the bowl. From their imagination they are supposed to determine what it feels like to them in regards of the Halloween theme. See how creative they can get!

STATION 3:

Spooky Story Time: A Halloween story will be read to the kids and during the story they will be given some “Vampire’s blood” aka: FRUIT PUNCH and cookies.

STATION 4:

Writing and Coloring activity: Halloween coloring sheets will be provided for the students to choose from. They will also have to write on the back what they want to be for Halloween and what they believe Halloween is all about J

That’s pretty much it!

Thanks guys for all your help, it should be really fun!

HAPPY EARLY HALLOWEEN :D

LOVE,

THE KEY CLUB BOARD

REGIONAL TRAINING CONFERENCE & DIVSIONAL COUNCIL MEETING
October 17th, 2009

It was very informative, we learned a lot as to how to run Key Club, how to recruit new members, learned some cheers and tested out how spirited our Divsion really was, discussed service opportunities with the less fortunate in Africa and how we can help lend a helping hand, etc. :) It was a learning experience and pretty good lunch too! Haha.

See the guy in the UNICEF box? We just had to take a picture with him because:

1) It's a UNICEF box costume, how cool is that.
2) He's a cutie, for sure. HAHAHA. (: I doubt he'll see this anyways because he's Division 15 :P

Aside from that .. I got more UNICEF boxes from RTC so if you guys don't have one, let me know so I can get that out to you that way you can raise money for the UNICEF. Remember, winner gets their money refunded for their Fall Rally ticket! So it's an opportunity of getting a
free ticket + you'll be helping us make a difference :)

BUDDY CLUB OF OCTOBER: MISSION HIGH SCHOOL -
We've decided that on Halloween, early evening about 5ish to 7ish we're looking for some people to come join us in Trick or Treating for donations to the UNICEF fund. We've decided to do it early because we're pretty sure you guys might have something else planned for Halloween :)

We'll keep you guys posted with the information as to where we'll be trick or treating, specific time, meeting spot, etc. Hopefully I pass my driver's test so I can provide us rides in driving around different areas if one area fails to be a good trick or treating spot, you know? But yeah!
___________________________________

AIDS WALK IS TOMORROW! Info is in previous blog. If you guys are lost or something, please do call me up! 626 802 7933

For those who ordered shirts, I'll have them for you in the morning so make sure you ask me for it and for those who haven't paid, please pay tomorrow.

______________________________________

FALL RALLY MONEY & CLUB DUES MUST BE TURNED IN THIS TUESDAY @ OUR MEETING! PLEASE DO NOT FORGET! It is mandatory that you pay if you are going to Fall Rally otherwise you will not be able to attend.

NOVEMBER 7TH, 2009 !! SPIRIT PARTY (;
1PM ALMANSOR PARK ! SAVE THE DATE !

We learn our Division Cheers for Fall Rally !
It'll be really fun, see how spirited us Key Clubbers can really be. (:

Here's a preview of what all the fuss about cheering is about, but I'm telling you ..
It's 100x more intense & fun at Fall Rally :) !!

Date: Saturday October 17, 2009
Location: Diamond Bar Air Quality Management District
21865 Copley Dr
Diamond Bar, CA 91765-4178
Time: 10AM-4:30PM
* please promote to EVERYONE, RTC isn't just for officers - officers ARE highly encouraged to go.
it's like mini District Convention! especially since DCON is in Sacramento,CA this year, so if they can't go to DCON, go to RTC! ;D
* also note the time change, differs from Sept. DCM Agenda.
* please go! represent our divy(:
October DCM
When: Right after RTC!
Location: Same Building
Time: 4-4:30PM
Why? Important info on AIDS Walk, Fall Rally and much more!
RTC, Need Advisors/Chaperones
Since there are so many Key Clubbers in one location we need the help of your Club Advisors and parents! I'd really encourage inviting your club advisors to come because there will be workshops for advisors, lead by the Key Club Regional Advisor. It's a great oppertunity for them to better understand what exactly we're doing in Key along with tips&reminders for helping your club out. If your advisor is new this year, please invite them! There will also be Kiwanis at RTC so it's a good oppertunity for the both of you, officers and advisor to build your relationship with them.
Parents? Yes I said parents. Its also a good oppertunity for the LTGs and Kiwanis to show your parents what you're doing in Key Club, why it's great and hopefully will help you gain extra support in your key club endeavors ;] Parents are also good for carpool!
If you have any adults or club advisors who're interested give them the info, and either let me know or have them email me so I can confirm we have enough chaperones.

KEY CLUB <3333

Some Ramona Ladies :)

Ice Breaker: "I Love My Neighbor.."

FIRSTTTT; sorry it's a lot to read, there's a lot of information :( I highlighted each topic so it'd be easier for you to find whatever it was that you were probably specifically looking for.

Thank you to those ladies who showed up at DCM on September 27th & we hope to see more of you guys there at next month's DCM. :)

We discussed the different events and services each clubs have done this past month and as for Ramona, we accomplished the following:
- School Supply Drive
- Club Rush of about 81 members, yay! :)
- Selling of cupcakes to help raise money for a Cure for AIDs.
- & Joining our Division for AIDs Walk on October 18th.

Just a note on AIDs Walk ladies:
- Please remember to pick up a permission slip to go to AIDs walk from either Mr. Hammer or Mr. Laborie. You need to have it signed by a parent/guardian in order to attend this event.
- Once you've registered online, please write your name on either one of the sign-up sheets in Mr. Hammer or Mr. Laborie's room.

ASIDE FROM THAT ! If you ladies are interested in ordering a shirt, please let me know asap so we can put orders in. The price ranges from $7-$10 probably, it all depends on how many people ordering a shirt. It'd be nice to have a shirt to remember the event you're walking for, or I think so at least :)

But asideeeee from all thaaaat ..
At DCM the following was discussed:

-AIDs Walk October 18th, 2009 with Division 10.

- We're looking for creative people out there who would be up for making our Division's shirt designs for the shirts we'll be wearing at Fall Rally in November! :) Deadline is I believe .. OCTOBER3RD!!!!

- Fall Rally is in NOVEMBER 14TH! :) Fall rally is an event all Key Clubbers from California, Nevada, and Hawaii go to at Six Flags Magic Mountain where we do cheers to show our clubs' spirits and all this is contributed to PTP [Pediatric Trauma Program]. FALL RALLY IS CHEAPER THIS YEAR :O !! Throughout the years I've attended this event, I paid $45 and it included my ticket, cheer attire and cheer supplies.. But this year Fall Rally is $25 for all of that, saywhaat!? DEADLINE IS OCTOBER 24TH SO PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING IN YOUR MONEY! :)

- Club dues [$15] have been extended this year to sometime in December 1st!!

But please submit them in before that. Preferably during the time you turn in your money for Fall Rally.

- Our Division raised about one thousand some dollars for PTP from the American Apparel Jacket sale. The deadline to order a jacket has been extended for two weeks more DEADLINE OCTOBER 10TH!!, so order now before it's too late. More info on the previous blog with all the colors, the price [which is super cheap for an AA jacket, trust me!] and who to place an order to. If not, just contact me so I can let Kayla know for you. :)

- BUDDY CLUB OF THE MONTH FOR RAMONA KEY CLUB IS SAN GABRIEL MISSION :)

We're looking for suggestions for some services to do for October, so pleaase be open with us!! :D Contact me along with my board if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. Thank you ladies :D

Keyclub Meeting: September 22nd, 2009

Hi Ladies :)
Well from what we saw at today's meeting, it was pretty jam packed in the room and we'd love to keep it that way through out the year. The more members, the better! We were somewhat delayed in starting our meeting because we had to settle some of the confusement going on with the whole Aids Walk deal between Campus Ministry and Key Club. We've decided (as repeated many, many times at the meeting) that Campus Ministry is going to collaborate with Key Club and join our team d10 south-0571 to make things that much easier and less complicated of which team Ramona girls should sign up for. Here's a step by step process to sign up:

1. Visit the AIDS Walk website: http://www.aidswalk.net/losangeles/index.html
2. Click the "Register Here" banner on the page.
3. Choose the option, "Register and Join a team".
4. "Join an Existing Team" and click the drop down scroll box to choose the team, "d10 south-0571".
5. Fill out your contact information.

And from there it should be pretty self explanatory :)

If you need a ride, please let us know ahead that way we can probably set you up with a ride with Campus Ministry and Cathedral High School on the bus. I know however, that a lot of Key Club members throughout the past years liked to get their own ride over there that way they could hang out with friends after they've completed the walk. If you'd like to carpool with a Key Clubber, please let me know way ahead of time before October 18th so I can try to find you a ride! :)

If you guys are interested in buying shirts, please let me know by October 2nd, 2009 that way I can tell you how much you'll be paying. The price all depends on how many shirts will be ordered. The more people that buy shirts, the cheaper it'll be. I'll need all payments by October 5th, 2009 and grace period day October 6th, 2009 the latest please.

________________________________________________________________

Aside from that . . .
We're open to suggestions, comments, concerns, so please do email us or hit the cell :)
Here's mine: 6268027933 or email: snabando@yahoo.com. I'll have the rest of our board post their information on the site if they choose to have it up.

PLEASE BRING ALL CLUB FEES BY OUR NEXT MEETING IF YOU CAN :D
$15; Ladies, it's really not that much. This club fee helps contributes to our club so that way we may be able to order shirts or whatever else our club may need.

YAYYYY FOR OUR SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE :D

The deadline's been moved to this Friday, September 25th, 2009 so please, please help bring in donations. The more the better :D Imagine how many kids you'd be helping out!

More service to come, check again soon. I'll keep you posted.
ALL PAST BLOGS ARE ON THE BLOG ARCHIVE ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE :)

CLUB FAIR ! :)

WATCH US IN ACTION (:

So club fair was a success, thanks to my lovely keyclub board :) Thank you ladies<3
We got about 81 people to sign up for our club, hopefully we'll be seeing you at the meetings.

Ramona Keyclubbers! :)
You will not be dissapointed with this year's Key Club. As you saw from the Club Fair, we gave it our all to help promote our club and attract more people. We had flyers and applications made which went to show how organized we were, lovely shirts that promoted how much love Key Club could give out to the community ("Keyclub: We do the heart good" Our RCKC motto of the year), our decorative table and poster that goes to show our creativity, dedication in promoting a cause by baking cupcakes and selling them to help raise money for a cure for AIDs, our enthusiasm and spirit by doing our Key Club cheers, etc. We promise to fill you in with plenty of events, services, socials, etccc!

Meetings will be held in Mr. Hammer's room in the Science Building @ Lunch on Tuesdays, Week 2. See you there ladies! :)

AVON WALK

Your Cheering Station(s):

Saturday, September 12, 2009

4020 E. Olympic Plz, Long Beach, CA 90802

Shift: 7:15am-9:45am

MAP

Directions: Cheering Station is located on the sidewalk next to the restaurant closest to the beach. Metered parking is available in the lot.

Sunday, September 13, 2009

Los Altos YMCA (Mile 4.8)

Shift: 8:00am-11:00am

MAP

Directions: Cheering Station is located in front of the building. There is limited parking available in the lot there, as well as along the street.

GUIDELINES:

Cheering Station sites have been generously donated by local businesses and organizations, and it’s important that we treat these sites with care and respect. Below is a list of guidelines established to help create safe and fun Cheering Stations:

  • Please do not disrupt traffic or block the route/bike path in any way.
  • Please stay for the duration of your shift! Walkers will really appreciate it!
  • The last Walker will have passed by your Cheering Station when the Caboose (staff member on bicycle) rides by.
  • Please park only in the designated parking areas.
  • Please remain at the designated site and do not stray onto adjacent property that we do not have permission to use.
  • Please pick up any trash or recycling that you find on the ground. We strive to leave sites cleaner than when we first arrived. Avon Walk Staff will not be providing site clean up. It’s a great idea to bring a couple of trash bags with you in case you are bringing posters, balloons, etc. along for the day.
  • Avon Walk Staff will NOT be on site to monitor the Cheering Stations. These sites are open to the public - family and friends of participants, media and sponsors may visit these sites.
  • Wave banners, hold up signs or balloons, blow bubbles, cheer, etc. to show your support.
    • Create a theme with your group!
  • Please remember that this is not a political venue or place for personal propaganda. Any business interested in dispersing brand material must get approval from the Volunteer & Outreach Coordinator prior to the event.
  • Please do not use sidewalk chalk, paint, confetti, etc.
  • Please do not hand out food or beverages to Walkers due to city health codes, unless approved by the Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator in advance.
    • If your shift takes place during a meal time, you are welcome to bring your own snacks or food. Please be sure to clean up after yourselves. Food will not be provided by the Avon Walk.
  • Should you need to use the restroom, you will need to find one on your own.

A Special Message Regarding Volunteer Waivers

Please click here to print out and complete a Volunteer Waiver for each Volunteer who is attending the Cheering Station and return it to me prior to the Event. You can fax it to (323) 931-3028 or mail it to Tiffany Estell, Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, 4929 Wilshire Blvd, Suite 255, Los Angeles, CA 90010. I appreciate you taking the time to fill this out in advance and unfortunately, will not be able to collect the forms the day of the Cheering Station.

*If you will not be meeting your group before the Walk or will not be able to distribute the Waivers prior to the Walk, please print off copies and bring them with you to the Cheering Station. Please have your group members sign there and then either mail or fax the forms back to me the week after the Walk. If you are under 18, you will need a parent/guardian to sign form as well.*
