DCM on September 27th, 2009

KEY CLUB <3333

Some Ramona Ladies :)

Ice Breaker: "I Love My Neighbor.."

FIRSTTTT; sorry it's a lot to read, there's a lot of information :( I highlighted each topic so it'd be easier for you to find whatever it was that you were probably specifically looking for.

Thank you to those ladies who showed up at DCM on September 27th & we hope to see more of you guys there at next month's DCM. :)

We discussed the different events and services each clubs have done this past month and as for Ramona, we accomplished the following:
- School Supply Drive
- Club Rush of about 81 members, yay! :)
- Selling of cupcakes to help raise money for a Cure for AIDs.
- & Joining our Division for AIDs Walk on October 18th.

Just a note on AIDs Walk ladies:
- Please remember to pick up a permission slip to go to AIDs walk from either Mr. Hammer or Mr. Laborie. You need to have it signed by a parent/guardian in order to attend this event.
- Once you've registered online, please write your name on either one of the sign-up sheets in Mr. Hammer or Mr. Laborie's room.

ASIDE FROM THAT ! If you ladies are interested in ordering a shirt, please let me know asap so we can put orders in. The price ranges from $7-$10 probably, it all depends on how many people ordering a shirt. It'd be nice to have a shirt to remember the event you're walking for, or I think so at least :)

But asideeeee from all thaaaat ..
At DCM the following was discussed:

-AIDs Walk October 18th, 2009 with Division 10.

- We're looking for creative people out there who would be up for making our Division's shirt designs for the shirts we'll be wearing at Fall Rally in November! :) Deadline is I believe .. OCTOBER3RD!!!!

- Fall Rally is in NOVEMBER 14TH! :) Fall rally is an event all Key Clubbers from California, Nevada, and Hawaii go to at Six Flags Magic Mountain where we do cheers to show our clubs' spirits and all this is contributed to PTP [Pediatric Trauma Program]. FALL RALLY IS CHEAPER THIS YEAR :O !! Throughout the years I've attended this event, I paid $45 and it included my ticket, cheer attire and cheer supplies.. But this year Fall Rally is $25 for all of that, saywhaat!? DEADLINE IS OCTOBER 24TH SO PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING IN YOUR MONEY! :)

- Club dues [$15] have been extended this year to sometime in December 1st!!

But please submit them in before that. Preferably during the time you turn in your money for Fall Rally.

- Our Division raised about one thousand some dollars for PTP from the American Apparel Jacket sale. The deadline to order a jacket has been extended for two weeks more DEADLINE OCTOBER 10TH!!, so order now before it's too late. More info on the previous blog with all the colors, the price [which is super cheap for an AA jacket, trust me!] and who to place an order to. If not, just contact me so I can let Kayla know for you. :)

- BUDDY CLUB OF THE MONTH FOR RAMONA KEY CLUB IS SAN GABRIEL MISSION :)

We're looking for suggestions for some services to do for October, so pleaase be open with us!! :D Contact me along with my board if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. Thank you ladies :D

Keyclub Meeting: September 22nd, 2009

Hi Ladies :)
Well from what we saw at today's meeting, it was pretty jam packed in the room and we'd love to keep it that way through out the year. The more members, the better! We were somewhat delayed in starting our meeting because we had to settle some of the confusement going on with the whole Aids Walk deal between Campus Ministry and Key Club. We've decided (as repeated many, many times at the meeting) that Campus Ministry is going to collaborate with Key Club and join our team d10 south-0571 to make things that much easier and less complicated of which team Ramona girls should sign up for. Here's a step by step process to sign up:

1. Visit the AIDS Walk website: http://www.aidswalk.net/losangeles/index.html
2. Click the "Register Here" banner on the page.
3. Choose the option, "Register and Join a team".
4. "Join an Existing Team" and click the drop down scroll box to choose the team, "d10 south-0571".
5. Fill out your contact information.

And from there it should be pretty self explanatory :)

If you need a ride, please let us know ahead that way we can probably set you up with a ride with Campus Ministry and Cathedral High School on the bus. I know however, that a lot of Key Club members throughout the past years liked to get their own ride over there that way they could hang out with friends after they've completed the walk. If you'd like to carpool with a Key Clubber, please let me know way ahead of time before October 18th so I can try to find you a ride! :)

If you guys are interested in buying shirts, please let me know by October 2nd, 2009 that way I can tell you how much you'll be paying. The price all depends on how many shirts will be ordered. The more people that buy shirts, the cheaper it'll be. I'll need all payments by October 5th, 2009 and grace period day October 6th, 2009 the latest please.

________________________________________________________________

Aside from that . . .
We're open to suggestions, comments, concerns, so please do email us or hit the cell :)
Here's mine: 6268027933 or email: snabando@yahoo.com. I'll have the rest of our board post their information on the site if they choose to have it up.

PLEASE BRING ALL CLUB FEES BY OUR NEXT MEETING IF YOU CAN :D
$15; Ladies, it's really not that much. This club fee helps contributes to our club so that way we may be able to order shirts or whatever else our club may need.

YAYYYY FOR OUR SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE :D

The deadline's been moved to this Friday, September 25th, 2009 so please, please help bring in donations. The more the better :D Imagine how many kids you'd be helping out!

More service to come, check again soon. I'll keep you posted.
ALL PAST BLOGS ARE ON THE BLOG ARCHIVE ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE :)

CLUB FAIR ! :)

WATCH US IN ACTION (:

So club fair was a success, thanks to my lovely keyclub board :) Thank you ladies<3
We got about 81 people to sign up for our club, hopefully we'll be seeing you at the meetings.

Ramona Keyclubbers! :)
You will not be dissapointed with this year's Key Club. As you saw from the Club Fair, we gave it our all to help promote our club and attract more people. We had flyers and applications made which went to show how organized we were, lovely shirts that promoted how much love Key Club could give out to the community ("Keyclub: We do the heart good" Our RCKC motto of the year), our decorative table and poster that goes to show our creativity, dedication in promoting a cause by baking cupcakes and selling them to help raise money for a cure for AIDs, our enthusiasm and spirit by doing our Key Club cheers, etc. We promise to fill you in with plenty of events, services, socials, etccc!

Meetings will be held in Mr. Hammer's room in the Science Building @ Lunch on Tuesdays, Week 2. See you there ladies! :)

AVON WALK

Your Cheering Station(s):

Saturday, September 12, 2009

La Palapa Del Mar Beach Front (Mile 5.15)

4020 E. Olympic Plz, Long Beach, CA 90802

Shift: 7:15am-9:45am

MAP

Directions: Cheering Station is located on the sidewalk next to the restaurant closest to the beach. Metered parking is available in the lot.

Sunday, September 13, 2009

Los Altos YMCA (Mile 4.8)

Shift: 8:00am-11:00am

MAP

Directions: Cheering Station is located in front of the building. There is limited parking available in the lot there, as well as along the street.

GUIDELINES:

Cheering Station sites have been generously donated by local businesses and organizations, and it’s important that we treat these sites with care and respect. Below is a list of guidelines established to help create safe and fun Cheering Stations:

  • Please do not disrupt traffic or block the route/bike path in any way.
  • Please stay for the duration of your shift! Walkers will really appreciate it!
  • The last Walker will have passed by your Cheering Station when the Caboose (staff member on bicycle) rides by.
  • Please park only in the designated parking areas.
  • Please remain at the designated site and do not stray onto adjacent property that we do not have permission to use.
  • Please pick up any trash or recycling that you find on the ground. We strive to leave sites cleaner than when we first arrived. Avon Walk Staff will not be providing site clean up. It’s a great idea to bring a couple of trash bags with you in case you are bringing posters, balloons, etc. along for the day.
  • Avon Walk Staff will NOT be on site to monitor the Cheering Stations. These sites are open to the public - family and friends of participants, media and sponsors may visit these sites.
  • Wave banners, hold up signs or balloons, blow bubbles, cheer, etc. to show your support.
    • Create a theme with your group!
  • Please remember that this is not a political venue or place for personal propaganda. Any business interested in dispersing brand material must get approval from the Volunteer & Outreach Coordinator prior to the event.
  • Please do not use sidewalk chalk, paint, confetti, etc.
  • Please do not hand out food or beverages to Walkers due to city health codes, unless approved by the Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator in advance.
    • If your shift takes place during a meal time, you are welcome to bring your own snacks or food. Please be sure to clean up after yourselves. Food will not be provided by the Avon Walk.
  • Should you need to use the restroom, you will need to find one on your own.

A Special Message Regarding Volunteer Waivers

Please click here to print out and complete a Volunteer Waiver for each Volunteer who is attending the Cheering Station and return it to me prior to the Event. You can fax it to (323) 931-3028 or mail it to Tiffany Estell, Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, 4929 Wilshire Blvd, Suite 255, Los Angeles, CA 90010. I appreciate you taking the time to fill this out in advance and unfortunately, will not be able to collect the forms the day of the Cheering Station.

*If you will not be meeting your group before the Walk or will not be able to distribute the Waivers prior to the Walk, please print off copies and bring them with you to the Cheering Station. Please have your group members sign there and then either mail or fax the forms back to me the week after the Walk. If you are under 18, you will need a parent/guardian to sign form as well.*

D10S AA Jackets for PTP | Leukemia Awareness Month:

Click for a bigger picture.

If we manage to find a free day for everybody...
September's Leukemia Awareness month and in order to let everybody know of this, Ramona & Bosco are teaming up to make a mini movie to show how hard it is to lose somebody you care for most to leukemia. We're hoping we can get as much participation in this, and a couple of friends and I will be making the script for the next few weeks. I'm hoping we can get this done in one day, but if you're interested, let me know! :)

When? TBA, hahaha. Everybody's just too busy! But we'll find a convenient day.
Where? TBA as well. :P

FOR NEXT DCM :)
We're looking for donations for a cure for Leukemia, and in return for your donation we'll give you a copy of our latest film. More updates on how this all goes later on.

September:

Welcome back to school ladies! Here's what we have up to date for this month with all the events and projects we'll be doing.

Ramona Keyclub: D10S Blue Turtles

“DA BIZZNESS”

Club Fair/First Keyclub meeting: Keyclub Board’s going to try and come up with something interesting to draw more interest and show our members meetings can be fun instead of just sitting around and listening to announcements the entire lunch period.

Sunday, October 18th, 2009: Aids WalkI already signed up online, so we’re good and ready to go. Anybody is open to sign up on the website with our group D10 Blue Turtles. I already requested for free materials to help us advertise this event. If you need help, contact me :) http://www.aidswalk.net/losangeles/

Now-September 19th, 2009: Staples School Supply Drive – I discovered this website online: www.dosomething.org that notified me about a school supply drive that Staple’s is hosting up until September 19th, 2009 in order to help 13 million children in the US that live in poverty by getting them the basic supplies they need to go back to school. I've spoken to Mr. L about this, and he thought it'd be a great idea to make it a school wide school drive that we'll kick off September 11th.

Brilliant Idea from the Keyclub Board: Breast Cancer Awareness Bracelets- Each bracelet will be sold for $1 and money will be donated to a Breast Cancer Charity Fund. Aside from that, some of the money made could contribute towards our club as well.

Leukemia Awareness Month With flyers, we can notify more people of this illness in commemoration of this month. The board and I felt that it'd be a great idea to notify the people of how critical this illness could be by making a video. Ramona & Bosco Keyclub are teaming up on this. Check out for more information up top!

Make A Wish Foundation: Granting the Wishes of Children I’ve started decorating small buckets and jugs for the “Make A Wish Foundation” that will be used for any change donations that people would like to be made. Little amounts of change could amount to something if everybody pitches in. Let alone selling star cutouts for $1 and putting them up at school (suggestion of mine, still need to ask Ms. Mullaly about this). The board liked the idea, so we'll see how it goes. This event will continue on past September if approved.

NOTE! Cold Stone Creamery: Thursday, September 24th, 2009 – Ice cream profits made this day will be donated to the Make A Wish Foundation.

Care Packages: Helping A Soldier – I kind of started this in the summer, but little donations of whatever you may feel a solider may need is basically what this is all about. Maybe we can save this fundraiser for later on because it seems like we’ve got a lot going on right now as you can see…

Halloween Festival – Even though it’s kind of far from now… Anybody have any ideas what we should do? Let’s make this good Suggestions please!

Avon Walk - September 12th: Because our Buddy club of the month is Mark Keppel, we're teaming up with them in cheering the walkers on September 12, from 7am-12pm. More info will be posted shortly. Or you can look it up!

Long Beach Bowling Club (Mile 17.4)
1100 Park Avenue, Long Beach, CA
Peak viewing times: 10:30am-3:00pm
Directions: Cheering Station is located at the intersection of Park and Deukmejian within Recreation Park. Street parking is available.
Notes: Recreation Park's clubhouse is a historical landmark nestled in the trees among beautiful rolling hills. Come cheer on the walkers at this cheering station and make some history of our own.

OR

Wardlow Park (Mile 21.0)
Corner of Stanbridge and Monlaco, Long Beach, CA 90808
Peak viewing times: 11:00am-4:00pm
Directions: Cheering Station is at the corner of Stanbridge and Monlaco. There is parking available along Stanbridge.
Notes: Get your cheering gear ready and come out to the lovely Wardlow Park to support the Walkers! They really need your liveliness to keep them going in the final stretch.

If you are going to this service, you need to have this waiver signed! http://www.megaupload.com/?d=1R8FJBC9

Hi Ramona Keyclubbers! :)

Well, this is a new blogspot that I made especially for our keyclub in order for you guys to know the update on everything and what events are coming up and what not. It's pretty convenient, right? :] Instead of trying to get a hold of people last minute trying to get the 411 of what's going on. Trust me, I've been through that. So here's your very own blogspot to keep up with the events. Check here from time to time to see what events are planned and coming up because I'll keep this thing updated with all events and will constantly update it with more services for us to do. My officers and I are open to any suggestions you guys may have for our keyclub, so don't be afraid to let us know! :) We don't bite, promise. Well, aside from Dionne maybe, I'd watch out for her. Haha! I kidd, I kidd. Kay, well that's all for now! I'll post up another blog for you guys to see w'sup with September updates.
