Activities for October 23, 2009

Hi Key Clubbers & Book Buddies!

Okay, since I won’t be able to stay long with you guys in doing these Halloween activities, I thought I’d give you a planner of what’s going to be happening. You guys have approximately an hour or so I believe, to get these kids Halloween spirits up and going!

Please arrive at the Library on Friday, October 23, 2009 by 1:20 after school that way we can get going and go over to Marguerita as soon as possible. We will be over there from 1:30pm-2:30pm.

Here’s my plan or so I’m hoping it’ll work out:

1. Set up different stations for each activity.

2. According to each activity, follow the instructions! J It seems pretty easy enough.

3. Please remember to be productive and run the activity as according to planned. We don’t have much time, probably 15 minutes at most with each activity. Depending when they let out for school.

Donations will be appreciated, please help us out!

We need the following:

- Miniature Pumpkin

- CANDY! J (We’ll be needing several bags, so various people could bring some)

- Cardboard wall with holes + bowl (I’ll take care of the “icky gooey” stuff, so don’t worry about that)

- To those who are coming to help us out, it’d be great if each of you guys could bring a pumpkin bucket and we will stuff them quickly in the library at BREAK, OCTOBER 23RD! So be prompted.

- Fruit Punch or Hawaiian Punch (“Vampire’s blood :P”) and Cookies!

STATION 1:

How Many Guessing Game: Fill up a jar with a lot of Halloween candy and have each student guess how many pieces are in the jar. Record each guess next to their name. Winner in the end gets the jar of candy. J

Once you’ve recorded all guesses …

Pass the Pumpkin! Basically it’s the same concept as “Hot Potato” and “Musical Chairs”. You keep passing the mini pumpkin around until the music stops and the one with the pumpkin is out.

Winner receives a prize!

STATION 2:

Halloween Feel Box: Basically we’re going to have a bowl with “icky gooey” stuff in regards of the Halloween theme.

Examples:

Damp course sponge: brains

Peeled grapes: Eyeballs

Tines of a plastic fork: Vampire fangs

Spaghetti noodles: Slimy worms

You’re going to have all these things in a bowl but there will be a cardboard box with a hole in between the student and the bowl that way they may reach into the hole and put their hand in and feel what’s in the bowl. From their imagination they are supposed to determine what it feels like to them in regards of the Halloween theme. See how creative they can get!

STATION 3:

Spooky Story Time: A Halloween story will be read to the kids and during the story they will be given some “Vampire’s blood” aka: FRUIT PUNCH and cookies.

STATION 4:

Writing and Coloring activity: Halloween coloring sheets will be provided for the students to choose from. They will also have to write on the back what they want to be for Halloween and what they believe Halloween is all about J

That’s pretty much it!

Thanks guys for all your help, it should be really fun!

HAPPY EARLY HALLOWEEN :D

LOVE,

THE KEY CLUB BOARD
